The timeless citrus Chypre character of 1872 has been enhanced with a twist of the most precious and full-bodied Vetiver from Madagascar. This lends a wonderful warmth to the 1872 base accord of woods, resins and amber. It also supports and adds verve to the heart notes of Clary Sage and Freesia, and to the top notes of Petitgrain and spices, where a touch of Myrtle also adds a further subtle glow.
Vetiver is a tropical grass native of India; today, however, it is typically harvested in Haiti. The oil is extracted from the root and permeates a woody, earthy scent that has been a favourite since ancient times. The Vetiver root is used in folk magic for its purported ability to provide safety and promote wealth.
